HUMAN

Filmmaker and artist, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has created a film which is a masterpiece of beautiful images, heart-wrenching stories, enlightened views and difficult questions.  HUMAN is the story of us all.  Real people, real struggles, real memoirs - a story of #WhatMakesUsHUMAN.

I watched the entire first volume of this inspirational film,  (There are more volumes.) thanks to Google. Google, along with the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, French TV France 2, and the GoodPlanet Foundation, made it possible for Yann to bring the world these films. I am grateful!

In my ministry and in my life, I have found that when we remember we are all part of humanity, magic happens.  Thanks to instant media, we have all been witnesses of this. Our humanity has been present in the various natural disasters that have raced across this tiny planet of ours as strangers help each other survive.  Our humanity has shown in our own communities when we join together to help one another through sickness, sudden tragedy or death.  Our humanity is what brings out the best in us. HUMAN is another example of this magic.

One of the beauties of this film is that everyone one is represented, regardless of race, gender, religion or nationality.  Stories that inspire, touch the heart, ask difficult questions, rage against inequities and bring great hope are the stories of us all.  These are interspersed with breath-taking images of humans in their home environments.

HUMAN is a poem on film about us, all of us.  What a blessing!

~~~~~
May we each remember that we and the stranger; the refugee; person in line at the supermarket; the immigrant; neighbor; the family huddling for shelter in the dark; the young adult struggling with addiction; the charismatic leader; the elder telling the same story for the hundreth time; the good, the bad and the broken are all part of one race - the Human race.  There is no "them" and "us."  We are ALL connected to each other.  We all share the stardust that created us.  We all share this tiny planet - Mother Earth - that struggles to provide for us all.  We all carry the DNA of ancestors that once were one tribe, one family, before they ventured out into the wide world in search of answers to questions yet imagined.
May Creator bless our humble attempts at reconnecting with our Humanity.  May Spirit continue to breathe life into our creative works so that they may touch the minds and hearts of all.  May we stop fearing each other and begin to see ourselves in the eyes of those we meet.
Blessings of Light and Love to all.
