Best of Times, Worst of Times

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
~ Charles Dickens ~

When Dickens penned these words over 150 years ago, he was writing of the world he knew. However, today, this iconic text speaks volumes about the state of things today.

In the past few days, many of us have seen or heard of the best and worst of humans, governments, and leaders. We have seen people fighting over rolls of toilet paper at one moment, only to turn and see young people delivering food to shut-ins and the elderly.

The Light and Dark of these days has been quite visible to all.  There is much Wisdom to be found, but also much foolishness.  Humankind has heard the Truth as well as the Lies.  Winter is still present, but, if we look, there are signs of Spring - Hope pushing up from Despair!

I make a mindful effort to look for Hope.  Just yesterday, I was touched to see, not only a childhood friend sharing his gift of music with the world, but also a "star" doing the same! (Thank you, Melissa Etheridge!!)

In my garden, bits of green are pushing up towards the sun, while bits of promise popped up on the posts in social media.  People are working to share a smile, offer assistance, and support each other.

So, while these may be the darkest times any of us have ever seen, they are also the Brightest.  Turn to the Light, soak up the healing Energy of Love and Compassion. Listen to those who are Love-centered, not those for whom truth is an unknown.  Walk in the knowledge that you are Loved and that Love only multiplies when shared with others.

Blessings to all - those fighting this horrible virus, those sick with fever and pain, those leading us into the future and those for whom the darkness is a daily companion.
